Lab Activity, Week Two

 I have chosen to do my research on Social Networking Forensics for a couple of different reasons.  First of all, I have always been interested in criminal psychology, crime solving and forensics.  I think this stems from growing up next door to a person that was a victim in a high profile kidnapping and wanting to be able to help other victims of crime.  Another reason that I chose my topic is that I am passionate about safety and security on the internet.  I went into network security because I didn't feel safe online, and wanted to learn more about how to keep my data safe and to help to keep other people and their data safe online.  Those two factors are what led me to want to know more about Social Networking Forensics.

In this week's lab, we broke off into groups with people that are doing similar topics to ours.  The group I joined was focused on security.  One major thing I learned from our group discussions is that privacy laws can complicate collecting evidence from social media and that I definitely need to know more about privacy laws concerning this area of digital forensics.
